The Global Sumud Flotilla has filed an official complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) accusing Israeli military commanders and senior political leaders of committing torture, sexual violence, and kidnapping against flotilla participants.
According to a press release issued by the organizers, the immediate precedent for the legal proceedings was the violent interception of the ships of the Global Sumud Flotilla on April 29-30, 2026, and May 18-19, 2026. Representatives of the flotilla claim that during these actions, Israeli forces committed serious human rights and humanitarian law violations against unarmed civilian volunteers.
„The document submitted to the ICC highlights serious and widespread abuses against civilians, including journalists, health workers and human rights activists,” the organization said in a statement. The statement added that the documented cases were part of a coordinated campaign of violence witnessed during the spring 2026 missions.
