Israeli forces have killed another Palestinian child in Gaza as they continue to attack tents housing displaced people, despite a „ceasefire” that designated parts of the Gaza Strip as a „security zone.”.
Two brothers were killed in an Israeli drone strike on two makeshift tents on Saturday: 15-year-old Islam Musa and his 30-year-old brother Abdallah Musa, medical sources said.
The Gaza Civil Defense said its teams rescued seven injured people from the scene of the attack in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis. They were taken to Nasser Hospital and the Red Cross Hospital.
In the hospital courtyard, relatives sobbed over the bodies of the siblings, covered in white shrouds.
A 10-year-old Palestinian child has died from his injuries following Israeli bombardments in southern Gaza. A source at Nasser Hospital told Anadolu Agency that Walid Yousef Abu Jassar died after being wounded in an Israeli strike on al-Mawasi days earlier.
The Israeli army also attacked a tent housing displaced Palestinians in western Gaza City, injuring at least 12 people, according to al-Shifa Hospital. The Palestinian Red Crescent said most of the wounded were women and two were in critical condition.
Reporting from Gaza City, Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum said Israel is continuing its attacks despite the "ceasefire".
„Maximum pressure has been a fundamental part of Israeli policy since the ceasefire was reached last year,” he said. „In the past few hours, we have received reports of Israeli drones hitting makeshift tents in the al-Mawasi area, which was designated a safe area for thousands of Palestinians under the ceasefire agreement,” he added, referring to the attacks that killed two people. „We are witnessing an increased presence of drones, which we can still hear overhead,” Azzoum added.

Israel deliberately targets children
Israel's killings of Palestinian children have received renewed attention after a UN report documented the targeting of young people in Gaza. The report found that around 30 percent of those killed since the genocide began in October 2023 were children.
Child rights activist Rachel Accurso, known as Ms. Rachel, spoke out along with one of the report’s co-authors, saying the world had failed to stop the massacre. „We see children like ours trying to survive a genocide, and yet nothing has happened, there is no accountability,” she said on Friday.
UN Commissioner Chris Sidoti, who co-authored the report, called the findings „absolutely heartbreaking.” „States have an obligation to act, a legal obligation to act,” Sidoti added. „We should have acted three and a half years ago, but it’s not too late to start.”
The Gaza Health Ministry said that Israel's genocidal war has killed at least 73,043 Palestinians and injured 173,417 since October 2023. Israeli forces have killed 1,031 Palestinians and wounded 3,309 since the start of the "ceasefire" last October, the ministry added.
