In today’s global pop culture, most international stars think twice before speaking out on sensitive geopolitical issues. Pressure from multinational sponsors, management, and the mainstream media pushes most artists toward lukewarm, meaningless „we want peace” clichés. There is, however, one global superstar who has broken this silence and become one of the most consistent bastions of international solidarity: Dua Lipa.
The three-time Grammy-winning British-Albanian singer doesn’t just share the occasional trendy hashtag on social media. For years, she has systematically stood up for Palestinian human rights, defying smear campaigns of the highest order. The Anti-propaganda explains why Dua Lipa became the Zionist media’s number one target and how she fought back against the hasbara machine’s attacks.
From ##AllEyesOnRafah to structural criticism
Dua Lipa’s support for the Palestinian cause did not begin last year, nor is it limited to expressing sympathy for the humanitarian catastrophe. She identifies the root of the problem: the illegal occupation and apartheid.
As early as 2021, when Israeli authorities forcibly evicted Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem, the singer openly protested against settlement policies and ethnically motivated displacement. When the Israeli army launched an offensive against Rafah, Dua Lipa was among the first to mobilize her more than 88 million followers on the iconic #AllEyesOnRafah by sharing the graphic.
A Rolling Stone In an interview with the magazine, he made it clear that his stance is not political radicalism, but rather the „humanitarian minimum.” One cannot remain silent when an entire people is being stripped of its dignity and its land. He lent his name to the Artists4Ceasefire to the initiative as well, by exerting direct pressure on Western political leaders to secure an immediate ceasefire and ensure the delivery of aid.
The Accusation of Anti-Semitism as a Weapon: The New York Times Incident
Given Dua Lipa’s enormous reach and cultural influence, the hasbara machine has deployed its most vicious weapon against her: character assassination and accusations of anti-Semitism.
In May 2021, the radical pro-Israel World Values Network published a full-page paid advertisement in one of the world’s most influential newspapers, the The New York Timesin. The ad featured a photo of Dua Lipa (along with models Bella and Gigi Hadid), directly linking her to Hamas’s ideology and claiming that defending Palestinian rights promotes genocide against Jews.
The goal is clearly to intimidation and the chilling effect was. They wanted to send a message to fashion houses, brands, and the music industry that Dua Lipa had become „toxic,” and to other celebrities that if they spoke out in support of Gaza, the same public humiliation awaited them.
Why did the smear campaign fail?
This time, the hasbara tactic suffered a humiliating failure. Dua Lipa did not back down, issue an apology, or delete her posts. Instead, she launched a frontal counterattack: in an official statement, she called the ad „shameless and completely false.” She stated that Zionist organizations deliberately conflate criticism of the Israeli government’s crimes with anti-Semitism in order to silence critical voices.
Dua Lipa's position is unshakable because she is immune to classic blackmail tactics:
-
Cultural dominance: She is at the pinnacle of contemporary pop culture and the face of major global brands (Versace, Porsche, YSL). These companies know full well that the majority of younger generations (Gen Z and Millennials) are pro-Palestinian and anti-colonialist, so boycotting Dua Lipa would be financial suicide for the brands, not for the singer.
-
Solidarity in action: In addition to her words, the singer supports the cause with substantial donations PCRF (Palestine Children's Relief Fund) organization, providing direct medical and humanitarian aid to children in Gaza.
Antipropaganda's findings: Dua Lipa’s story is proof that the Zionist narrative’s monopoly on the Western mass media has finally been broken. While Hasbara tries to hammer home in the media that standing with Gaza is tantamount to terrorism and anti-Semitism, the world’s most popular pop icon points to the reality: solidarity with the oppressed is not a political taboo, but a fundamental human obligation. When the greatest have the courage to speak out, the walls begin to crumble.
