Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip killed two truck drivers working for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) who were delivering drinking water to local residents — UNICEF announced on Saturday, calling for an immediate investigation.
According to the report, the incident—which left two people injured—occurred Friday morning near Mansura, in the northern part of the area, at a drinking water distribution station. In its statement, the organization emphasized that the distribution point is currently the only operational filling station along the Mekorot water pipeline that supplies Gaza City, and that UNICEF and its partners use it several times a day to meet the drinking water needs of hundreds of thousands of people living in the area.
– added UNICEF, which also called for the protection of aid workers and those working to provide essential services.
According to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, the Israeli military has killed more than 760 Palestinians in the area since the ceasefire between Israel and the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas took effect last October.
