Israel's UN ambassador has made a fool of himself by yelling at officials and launching personal attacks on them after Israel was added to the UN's blacklist for conflict-related sexual violence.

Danny Danon, Israel's UN ambassador to the United Nations, has disgraced himself by launching personal attacks on UN officials and even telling them to remain silent after Israeli agencies were added to a blacklist of states and terrorist organizations accused of sexual violence in conflict zones.
At a meeting in New York on Friday to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon called for the resignation of UN Under-Secretary-General Pramila Patten, who prepared the report that first blacklisted Israel for such abuses, and Danon accused her of bias.
„He has succumbed to the Secretary-General’s obsession with targeting Israel,” Danon said, referring to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Another UN official, Vanessa Frazier — Guterres„ envoy on children and armed conflict and author of another report blacklisting Israel — intervened and called for a point of order. She demanded that Danon refrain from ”personal attacks,„ adding that he had ”verified evidence.”.
Danon told Frazier to be quiet. „We are a member state and you work for the UN and now you will be quiet. You will be quiet… you and your shameful report,” he said.
Frazier shot back: „This shouldn’t get personal… I’m asking for a motion to maintain order.”
Frazier, a former UN ambassador for Malta, released a report this week on behalf of Guterres warning that illegal Israeli settler groups could be added to a global blacklist for child rights abuses. The UN secretary-general expressed concern about the „shocking” increase in abuses against Palestinian children. Israel itself is already on the report’s „list of shame” (appendices) for abuses.
When Patten's report was released last month, Danon called it a "new low," and the Israeli Foreign Ministry vowed to sever all ties with Guterres, who is leaving office at the end of the year after 10 years.
Frazier's report revealed that children were suffering serious violations on a scale not seen in three decades, and for the first time, government forces were responsible for the majority of the abuses.
Returning to Patten, Danon accused the Deputy Secretary-General of being „an accomplice to this disgrace.”.
The 2025 report on sexual violence also noted that Israel did not provide access for UN bodies to monitor the situation, while humanitarian assistance remained severely limited.
