Israeli forces continued attacks in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, killing at least two Palestinians despite a „ceasefire” in place in the besieged zone.
Health officials at the Nasser Medical Center in southern Gaza told Al Jazeera that an Israeli drone strike killed a 12-year-old child and wounded several others on Wednesday in the al-Mawasi area, west of the city of Khan Younis.
According to data from the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 1,027 people have been killed and 3,280 injured in Israeli attacks since the „ceasefire” that came into effect in October 2025.
Overall, since the start of the genocidal war launched by Israel in October 2023, the death toll has reached 73,041 and the number of wounded has reached 173,402.
The child's killing came a day after a UN commission of inquiry issued a report that concluded that Israel's deliberate attacks on children are part of an ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
„Evidence shows that Palestinian children are being deliberately targeted and killed by Israeli forces,” said Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the UN commission. „Even after the ceasefire in October 2025, the killing and serious injury of children continue, while Israel continues to disregard the ceasefire and the protections Palestinian children are entitled to under international law.”
Reporting from Gaza City, Al Jazeera's Hind Khoudary said Israel had previously designated the al-Mawasi area as a "safe zone." "Despite that, they are constantly being attacked," she added.
„Israeli forces attacked a tent on Wednesday, killing 12-year-old Ahmed,” Khoudary said, detailing the strike. „At least seven Palestinians were wounded in the same attack.”

Occupied West Bank
In parallel with the attacks in Gaza, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian on Wednesday in the town of al-Yamoun in the northern occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli forces killed Mohammed Nazem Zayed, 29, with live ammunition after raiding the town west of Jenin. The ministry added that soldiers were holding the victim's body.
According to Al Jazeera reporters, an Israeli special unit stormed the city on Wednesday afternoon, surrounded the house where Zayed was staying, then opened fire on him and left him to bleed to death.
Meanwhile, the Israeli news portal Walla reported that soldiers from the army's Duvdevan unit opened fire and killed a Palestinian during what they called an "operational activity" in al-Yamoun.
At least 71 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of 2026.
According to official Palestinian figures, since the start of the genocidal war on Gaza, the escalation by the army and settlers in the West Bank has resulted in the deaths of 1,173 Palestinians, the injury of 12,666, the arrest of approximately 23,000 people, and the displacement of 33,000 people from their homes.
