While public discourse is often dominated by rejection, prejudice, political slogans, and artificially stoked fear, official international statistics paint a completely different picture.

This article was inspired by a typical social media post that accurately reflects the mainstream narrative:

„Immigrants over the past 10 years haven’t exactly excelled at integration, so to speak.”

The reality, however, is that numbers don’t lie. If we read the reports from independent research institutes and government statistical agencies, it becomes clear that communities with Muslim and immigrant backgrounds contribute to the well-being of their host societies to an astonishing degree. Let’s look at the facts, which anyone can verify.

1. A strong culture of giving: A multiplier effect on social solidarity

Independent studies conducted in the United Kingdom have clearly shown that British Muslims are the most generous donors in the country. Each year, approximately £2.2 billion raise funds for charitable causes.

An average Muslim resident per year £708 donates.

In contrast, the national average in the UK is only £165.

This represents a more than fourfold increase in charitable giving. A particularly important point is that these enormous sums do not leave the country, but instead are used to a significant extent to alleviate domestic crises—such as homelessness in major British cities and the food crisis.

2. The startup sector and the drivers of high-tech innovation

In Germany, young people from immigrant backgrounds are building the economy of the future. According to data from federal-level surveys:

Tech startups founded in Germany 14% are initiated by immigrants.

For the most valuable companies—the so-called „unicorns” valued at over $1 billion—this ratio is even higher: 23%.

The Founders 91%-a hold a college degree, most of them from the most prestigious STEM (in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

3. Entrepreneurship and Job Creation

According to statistics, young people from immigrant backgrounds do not take jobs away from others; rather, they create them. In the United Kingdom, nearly twice as likely are more likely to start their own businesses than those born in the UK.

Today, companies owned by non-British-born entrepreneurs account for more than They provide jobs for 1.1 million people across the country. At the same time, the younger generation of Muslims is fostering entirely new, rapidly growing industries across Europe through Islamic FinTech (financial technology) and the global halal economy.

4. Structural assistance for critical sectors

Without immigrants, the basic public services of Western European countries would be unable to function today.

France: Hospital doctors 12%-a, the nursing staff 14%-a, while construction workers 26%-a of immigrant background.

Netherlands: According to national statistics, people who have been granted refugee status are integrating into the labor market faster than ever before. The most recent arrivals 13%—coming within 3 months is located in the logistics and hospitality sectors, which are grappling with critical labor shortages.

What's the story behind it? Genuine integration vs. walls

Behind this remarkable spirit of charity lie the spiritual and social pillars of the Islamic faith, namely Zakat (obligatory alms) and the Sadaqah (voluntary donations) that are deeply embedded in everyday culture and community life.

Behind this remarkably high level of entrepreneurial spirit lies the determination and resilience of the younger generation. Due to structural racism, everyday discrimination, or closed doors in the labor market, these young people often hit a wall in the traditional corporate sector—and in response, they create value on their own, founding their own companies and creating new jobs.

Conclusion

In light of the official data, the political narratives become untenable: the vast majority of immigrant and Muslim communities do not place a burden on Western social welfare systems, but rather supports Europe’s aging societies, which are grappling with a demographic crisis, as an active, net contributor, a doctor, an innovative entrepreneur, and a philanthropist.

Instead of prejudices and collective fear, let’s finally talk about real performance and hard numbers. Because at the end of the day, we’re all human beings with the same dreams—it’s just that our starting points are different.

(The facts and official statistics speak for themselves. And the mocking or skeptical „laughing” reactions to such data in the online space say less about the quality of the facts presented than about the intellectual maturity and informedness of those reacting.)

Citation of official sources and background studies:

Charity data (UK): Equi Think Tank Research / Blue State UK Digital Giving Report.
