To:<\/b> The Hungarian journalistic community, civil society, and all right-thinking citizens<\/p>\n

We, the undersigned journalists, researchers, lawyers, and human rights activists, strongly protest the Neokohn<\/i> against institutionalized, systemic media bias, Islamophobic hate speech, and the systematic dehumanization of the Palestinian civilian population on news websites.<\/p>\n

In recent times, the aforementioned website has completely abandoned the fundamental principles of objective journalism and has sunk to a level of political propaganda that directly violates universal human dignity. We cannot stand idly by while, under the guise of press freedom, a professional PR machine (hasbara)\u2014a remnant of the Orb\u00e1n government\u2014operates as a domestic bridgehead, poisoning Hungarian public discourse.<\/p>\n

We protest against the following manipulative and exclusionary practices:<\/b><\/p>\n

    The systematic dehumanization of Palestinian civilians:<\/b> We find it outrageous that the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip, the starvation of hundreds of thousands, and the deaths of thousands of children are reduced in the pages of this newspaper to mere statistics, collateral damage, or a staged spectacle labeled \u201ePallywood.\u201d The Palestinian people are systematically stripped of their humanity, their names, and their right to mourn.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Institutionalized Islamophobia:<\/b> The newspaper portrays Islam and Islamic culture as a monolithic, violent, expansionist political ideology. By presenting Western European integration issues in a biased manner, it creates a virtual enemy image that directly fuels anti-Muslim prejudice and threatens the daily safety of members of the peaceful Muslim minority living in Hungary.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The criminalization of critical voices and character assassination:<\/b> By wielding the accusation of \u201enew anti-Semitism\u201d as a weapon, the paper seeks to intimidate and silence those independent domestic researchers, journalists, and activists who, standing on the ground of international law, criticize Israel\u2019s military and apartheid policies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Freedom of the press does not mean freedom to incite hatred or to whitewash war crimes. We call on members of the Hungarian public to distance themselves from Neokohn<\/i> from the inflammatory rhetoric it espouses, and the authorities to enforce Hungarian laws.<\/p>\n

    Silence: an act of complicity with propaganda. We will no longer remain silent.<\/b><\/p>\n
