In recent days, the mainstream media and neoconservative opinion leaders have put forward yet another ready-made narrative aimed at discrediting the international civil society movements protesting the Gaza blockade. The Neokohn<\/i> The report published on the website originated in Bilbao, Spain, and was headed for Gaza \u201eGlobal Sumud\u201d<\/i> discusses the tragedy of the aid convoy in Libya. The presentation follows the classic hasbara formula: it portrays activists fighting against the starvation of Palestinian civilians as naive, irresponsible provocateurs, while conveniently shifting the weight of the tragedy and the blame onto the chaotic internal conditions in the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n

The reality, however\u2014which the walls of propaganda strive to conceal\u2014is far darker and more systemic than that.<\/p>\n

The true meaning of \u201eSumud\u201d in the shadow of weapons<\/h3>\n

The name of the convoy Sumud<\/i> (\u0635\u0645\u0648\u062f) is a Palestinian cultural concept: it signifies steadfastness, remaining on one\u2019s homeland, and peaceful, everyday resistance against oppression. When international activists\u2014including such unyielding figures as the Israeli-born Jewish peace activist who was recently imprisoned on trumped-up charges of \u201etreason\u201d\u2014, Zohar Regev Chamberlain<\/b> \u2013 They board a ship or join a convoy, risking their lives and freedom; they embody this unwavering resolve.<\/p>\n

The official PR machine, however, is attempting to deconstruct this moral capital by portraying the relief effort as being led by the notorious Khalifa Haftar<\/b> They frame it as a bloody clash with the general\u2019s militias, suggesting that attempts to break through the blockade inevitably lead to armed anarchy and military fiascos. They want to convince voters that helping civilians is not a humanitarian duty, but a dangerous political game.<\/p>\n

General Haftar and Hard-Nosed Realpolitik<\/h3>\n

Who exactly is this Khalifa Haftar, whose fighters blocked the delivery of Spanish aid? According to the mainstream narrative, he is merely a Libyan faction leader caught up in the chaos of civil war. The geopolitical reality behind the scenes, however, is far more revealing. Haftar is a ruthless warlord accused by human rights organizations of systematic war crimes. At the same time, he is the pragmatic figure behind whom Russia, the CIA\u2019s past, anti-Islamist Arab monarchies\u2014and, through secret negotiations, Israeli intelligence, the Mossad\u2014all emerge simultaneously.<\/p>\n

The circle has closed. The international activists off the coast of Libya did not find themselves facing mere chance or an isolated militia, but rather the very same ironclad system of realpolitik that sustains the blockade of Gaza. A structure where military warlords, geopolitical interests, and Israeli security doctrines converge at the expense of the civilian population.<\/p>\n

The Diplomatic Shield and the Domestic Reaction<\/h3>\n

This mechanism could not function without the protective umbrella provided by the global superpowers. Israel can afford to consistently disregard international legal norms and humanitarian obligations because the United States\u2019 virtually automatic veto power in international forums grants it legal and political immunity.<\/p>\n

This systematic whitewashing and narrative management has also become deeply ingrained in the Hungarian public sphere. Domestic Zionist and neoconservative opinion leaders\u2014led by the Weeks<\/i> and the Faith Church<\/i> such key figures in his media empire (ATV, Hit Radio) as M\u00e1t\u00e9 Kulifai<\/b> \u2013 They present this state propaganda under the guise of professional intellectual discourse. Their task is to delegitimize the decisions of international courts, humanitarian aid efforts, and criticism of the occupation in the eyes of the Hungarian public by branding them as \u201enew anti-Semitism\u201d or \u201esupport for terrorism.\u201d.<\/p>\n

What is true betrayal?<\/h3>\n

When the propaganda outlets write that aid convoys have failed in the Libyan desert or in the Mediterranean, they are actually celebrating the suppression of conscience. They want the world to look the other way. They want us to believe that the collective punishment, confinement, and starvation of more than two million people is just the way things are.<\/p>\n

But the truth cannot be buried under the rubble. True betrayal is not when someone from Bilbao, Budapest, or even Israel itself speaks out against the starvation of children in Gaza. True betrayal is silence. True betrayal is watching the systematic destruction of an entire people unfold in real time, and then going about our day as if nothing had happened.<\/p>\n

Gaza reveals not only the brutality of the occupiers and armed warlords\u2014but also the moral bankruptcy of the international community, of governments that turn a blind eye for political gain, and of the media that spreads propaganda.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
